Whether you’re a start up or an established business owner, your business needs to have has a consistent flow of clients coming through your sales and marketing funnel.
If you need to secure more clients and you’re feeling overwhelmed as to where to start then I’d like you to consider taking your business back to basics.
This means forgetting about the latest shiny new marketing techniques that can easily distract you. Keep it simple. Think about how you can start creating meaningful conversations with your business network and community.
Conversations create connections. Connections creates trust and increased opportunities for referrals, partnerships, alliances and new clients. High value services are typically sold through having a conversation, so start having more conversations.
Remember that a conversation needs to be meaningful, it’s not a one-sided sales pitch. Do tell people what services you provide and who you’re looking to help.
Balance this with carefully listening to who you are connecting with. Identify their biggest challenges and concerns, and offer simple honest and useful advice if you can help them.
Your marketing and sales funnel needs to move people along the funnel, from the point of knowing you (so being aware that you exist) to liking and trusting you.
Once they trust you and know that you can solve their problems with your services, then they are highly likely to engage with you. If they don’t buy immediately then by keeping in touch with them you’ll stay top of mind for when they are ready to buy.
Having a meaningful conversation with a prospect or being referred from your network can immediately shorten the time of your sales funnel. With this in mind think about how you can create at least 2 new conversations this week. Also re-connect with at least 1 useful connection that you’ve not connected with for a while.
So what are you waiting for?
Here’s to your success!
